The story of the ring
This model was personally chosen by Diana from a selection presented by Garrard Jewelers, a historic London-based luxury jewelry house.
It was an unusual choice for a member of the Royal Household because it was available to anyone from the Garrard catalog at the time. A large oval sapphire surrounded by a frame of diamonds set in white gold.
Sapphires were one of Princess Diana's favorite gems, and some say it reminded her of her mother's engagement ring. Diana later claimed that she chose it because “it was the biggest ring.”
The jewel was part of Harry's inheritance, who gave it to his brother William to make a gift to Kate Middleton.
When William handed it over to Kate, he stated, “It is very special to me. Since Kate is very special to me now, it was only right to unite them. It was my way of making sure my mother was also present at this important moment.”

Upon request, the ring can be made with any type of gemstone: emerald, ruby, aquamarine or even a diamond.
